P2B Batangas fuel depot beckons for more traders in PH

Local fuel depot operator, Lemery Oil Terminal Corp., recently rolled out a massive petroleum storage complex in Batangas, and is upbeat that more independent fuel importers in the country can have access to the market with the inauguration of the P2 billion facility.

In a statement yesterday, the company said the fuel storage facility, with a total storage capacity of 181 million liters across 22 steel tanks, aims to reduce bottlenecks and logistics costs, particularly for smaller players that do not have their oil depots.

Lemery Oil declared that it is welcoming more locators to lease space in the terminal, which currently hosts Unioil and Insular Oil.

The company noted that the facility is designed to store imported diesel oil, motor gasoline, fuel ethanol, and coconut methyl ester used in biodiesel blends, as it is intended to support both conventional fuels and cleaner alternatives.

“Our terminal is open to all independent fuel players who need long-term storage and reliable access to the Philippine market,” said  Joseph Rejuso, Lemery Oil vice president. “We want to help new entrants grow their operation and serve more areas.”

The company also said that by offering third-party access, the facility, which can distribute supplies to key markets across Luzon, is expected to support broader competition in the downstream oil sector as it remains heavily concentrated.

“With fuel prices remaining high and demand continuing to grow, we hope to play a key role in ensuring supply stability and expanding market access for a more diverse range of fuel providers,” explained Ferdinand Co, Lemery Oil president.

Lemery Oil said the terminal also forms part of the seven hectare Sinisian Lemery Batangas Port & Industrial Park which was inaugurated last August 1 as the latter serves as an alternative to more congested depots in Metro Manila and nearby ports.
