The construction of the Kaliwa Dam in the provinces of Rizal and Quezon is now at 30 percent, according to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).
Leonor Cleofas, MWSS administrator, said at an inauguration ceremony in Muntinlupa City on Wednesday, the project may take at least three and half years more to complete and will be commissioned before the end of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s term.
The P12.2-billion Kaliwa Dam is funded by an official development assistance from China and will provide additional 600 million liters of water per day for Metro Manila.
The 60-meter tall dam has a riverbed elevation of 100 meters with a reservoir surface area of 291 hectares.
Kaliwa Dam will provide sufficient water source for Metro Manila in the coming years.
