PLDT Inc. expects its home broadband business to be a major revenue driver for growth this year.
“We already have about 12 million homes passed and about 5.29 million ports, by far the biggest base for ports available. So by 2022 there will be a big push as Home figures as a major revenue driver for growth for PLDT,” Manuel Pangilinan, PLDT chairman, said in a statement.
PLDT Home has connected more than 800,000 households with fiber in 2021 as more households required reliable internet connection for online learning and work-from-home.
For this year, PLDT Home remains competitive in introducing more attractive and relevant service offers to attract new subscribers.
These include the new Unli Fiber Plans ranging from 50 megabits per second (Mbps) speeds for Plan 1699 to 1000 Mbps for Plan 9499, along with other Fibr Plus plans that bundle Wi-fi mesh devices to keep all corners of the home connected, PLDT said.
“We introduced the newest set of Fibr plans with upgraded speeds to further give every Filipino family the best digital experience,” said Butch Jimenez Jr., PLDT Home Business senior vice president and head.
“It’s a big part of PLDT Home’s unwavering commitment to provide Filipino families a future that they can look forward to — a future where more homes across the country can easily access the best digital services and fastest connectivity,” Jimenez added.
PLDT said its latest announcement solidifies its stronghold as a pioneer in the industry as it launched the country’s first 10,000 Mbps Home plan — the fastest, commercially offered residential fiber connectivity service in the country.
Cementing its undisputed position as the country’s top provider of fiber connectivity, PLDT also remains the fastest fixed network in the Philippines, according to the latest Ookla Speedtest awards for first to second quarter of 2021 — the fourth consecutive year since 2018 that it gained the top spot awarded by Ookla, a leader in broadband network intelligence.
