NLEX Corp., a unit of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), plans to upgrade its radio frequency identification (RFID) system and install new contactless terminals this year as part of initiatives to improve customer experience.
NLEX said the system enhancement programs for the year include installation of RFID early detection feature, installation and software upgrade of RFID card readers or contactless terminals, upgrade of system servers, and replacement of toll lane equipment.
About 29 more toll lanes will be equipped with enhanced scanners for faster RFID detection and additional 50 toll lanes will have new contactless terminals where customers can tap their Easytrip card to process their RFID transactions, the company added.
Once completed, a total of 217 toll lanes will have RFID early detection features and 258 toll lanes with contactless terminals.
