Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) with its joint venture partner the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), is ready to handle the expected 5 to 10 percent increase in daily average traffic as schools reopen in-person classes.
With more vehicles expected to ply the 14-kilometer Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) going to different schools and universities in Metro Manila, CIC said it foresees a 5 to 10 percent jump in daily average vehicle count versus the current 150,000 daily traffic due to the full implementation of face-to-face classes by November, with some expected to start as early as August.
To help manage the increasing number of traffic that has now surpassed pre-pandemic numbers, CIC said Cavitex has been activating counterflow lanes for class 1 vehicles that are Manila-bound in front of Waste Transfer Facility and after Parañaque Toll Plaza, and for Cavite-bound in front of Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange and after Parañaque Toll Plaza during rush hours of morning and afternoon, respectively, and as needed.
Aside from traffic management on-ground, CIC continuously reminds customers to avail of its free Easytrip radio frequency identification (RFID) to avoid long queues at cash lanes and for faster lane transactions.
CIC also promotes the use of Metro Pacific Tollway Corp.’s (MPTC) latest digital venture, MPT DriveHub app, that is available for both iOS and Android devices. – Myla Iglesias
