Brands benefit from e-commerce

BRANDS with brick and mortar stores see the benefit of jumping into big electronic commerce platforms to enhance their online presence, according to Erin Tagudin, Shopee Philippines public relations head.

Tagudin said in an interview on Tuesday brands, which have brick and mortar stores, allot about 50 to 60 of their budget to e-commerce.

“That’s the mystery. `Why are they investing in ecommerce?’ They see a future in e-commerce. While people are now going to brick and mortar stores, there is a big market for e-commerce. Brands see it that way.

As much as they invest in brick and mortar, they are also investing 50 to 60 percent of their budget in e-commerce,” Tagudin said.

Tagudin added despite the popularity of social commerce, dedicated e-commerce remains the most preferred platform for customers.

“With e-commerce, there is the intention to buy. In social commerce, users go there for other purposes like entertainment,” she said.

To further improve shopping experience, Shopee targets to implement one-day delivery in 2025 initially in Metro Manila.

“Our focus has always been a better user experience… better return, easy refund, faster delivery and other enhancements in our systems,” Tagudin said.

Shopee also eyes to reduce complaints over slow, failed and wrong item delivery.

To support these goals, Shopee is working with sellers and its logistics partners.
