15 Filipinos land in Forbes’ list of world’s billionaires

Fifteen Filipinos made it to the Forbes’ 39th annual World’s Billionaires list released late Tuesday.

Former senator Manny Villar led all the Filipinos in the roster, landing 117th with a net worth of $17 billion, the Forbes report said .

 Villar is the chairman of property developer Vista Land & Lifescapes.

According to Forbes, Villar’s biggest asset is his stake in Golden MV Holdings (formerly Golden Bria), the developer building the Villar City, a 3,500-hectare master-planned community south of Manila.

Enrique Razon Jr., chairman of the International Container Services Inc. and whose net worth stood at $10.9 billion, ranked 227th.

Other Filipinos who made it to the list are  Ramon Ang, $3.7 billion, 979th; Lucio Tan, $3 billion, 1,291th; Henry Sy Jr., $2.3 billion, 1,573rd; Hans Sy, $2.2 billion, 1,626th; Herbert Sy, $2.1 billion, 1,688th; Harley Sy and Teresita Coson-Sy, each worth $1.9 billion and tied at 1,850th; Elizabeth Sy, $1.7 billion, 2,019th; Andrew Tan, $1.6 billion, 2,110th; Lucio Co., $1.4 billion, 2,356th; Susan Co, $1.3 billion, 2,479th; and Tony Tan Caktiong, $1.3 billion, 2,479th.

The 3,028 billionaires featured in the list, the most since its inception in 1987, are collectively worth a record-breaking $16.1 trillion, Forbes said. That is up nearly $2 trillion over 2024.

The top spot went to Elon Musk, dethroning French luxury goods titan Bernard Arnault, now at No. 5 with $178 billion.

Forbes said Musk’s net worth grew by 75 percent to an estimated $342 billion and he is the first person to reach the $300-billion mark.

The report added that US President Donald Trump more than doubled his net worth to an estimated $5.1 billion, through his shares of Trump Media & Technology Group, and big cash inflows from his recent crypto ventures.
