PSA: Domestic trade hits P1.07T in Q2 2025; New data includes road shipping

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Friday released preliminary domestic trade figures for the second quarter of 2025, which for the first time include data on the movement of goods by road.

The figures integrate data from the new Commodity Flow Survey (CFS), providing a more complete picture of domestic commerce by capturing road transport which was previously excluded, PSA statement said.

The total value of domestic trade was P1.07 trillion, with higher-value goods moving predominantly by road, which accounted for P662.4 billion (62.1 percent).

The total volume of goods traded between regions reached 15.13 million tons between April and June.

Water transport accounted for P403.6 billion at 37.8 percent. It remained the dominant mode by volume, carrying 7.88 million tons at 52.1 percent and seeing an 18.2 percent annual increase.

Newly tracked road transport accounted for 7.25 million tons at 47.9 percent while air freight made up a small share at .03 percent.

CALABARZON was the top exporting region, shipping 2.49 million tons of goods valued at P220.4 billion.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was the leading importer by volume, at 2.94 million tons and Central Visayas by value, at P257.1 billion.

Central Luzon posted the largest trade surplus by volume, at 1.32 million tons, and CALABARZON by value, at P132.82 billion. — Marlon Magtira
