The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has approved on July 10 50 new projects which will bring in P22.5 billion investments and generate 8,917 employment, according to its director-general Charito Plaza.
Plaza said of these, 33 are new projects of existing locators worth P13.8 billion which will create 7,116 employment.
The remaining 17 are new ecozone development projects with investments of P 8.7 billion and jobs for 1,801 Filipinos. Of the 17, 10 are new ecozones and seven are ecozone facilities enterprise projects.
“The approval of new projects and investments is the agency’s positive action to continuously support the Philippine economy in our endeavor to maintain our competitiveness for investments despite the impact of COVID-19 (new coronavirus disease 2019),” Plaza said. – Irma.Isip
