The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said it has intensified its crackdown on illicit vape products, working closely with other relevant government agencies to seize and dispose of non-compliant goods.
The DTI said in a statement issued September 4 confiscated items are being turned over to the Treatment, Storage, and Disposal (TSD) facility accredited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), with additional batches currently undergoing destruction.
Apart from the DENR, the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are also working with the DTI in this campaign, the statement said.
The inter-agency drive is part of the government’s enforcement of Republic Act No. 11900, or the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act, its implementing rules, and other trade and safety laws.
The DTI said vape products deemed illicit—after clearance by relevant government bodies—are subject to condemnation. Manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers caught selling non-compliant products face regulatory action and administrative penalties.
Violations may be reported to the DTI Office for the Special Mandate of Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products (OSMV) at OSMV@dti.gov.ph or OSMV_Comms@dti.gov.ph, it said. – The Malaya Business News Team
