PSA confident of hitting PhilID goal

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) expressed confidence it will achieve the goal of issuing 50 million Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards by year-end.

In a statement yesterday, PSA said the total PhilIDs dispatched or those released to the post office as of October 28 is at 23.22 million, which is 77.2 percent of the 30.1 million target for 2022.

“We thank the BSP (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) for its tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to ensure that card production and printing is at full speed ahead,” said PSA Undersecretary Dennis Mapa, national statistician and civil registrar general.

“With this sustained increase, we are confident that we will achieve our goal to issue 50 million PhilIDs, physical and digital, by the end of the year,” he added.

The PSA said it is continuously exploring ways to further expedite and increase the volume of PhilID production and printing such as improving data flow.

The PSA reported a consistent increase in PhilID cards dispatched to the post office for delivery.

In the third quarter, the PhilIDsdispatched by the PSA and BSP grew from 1.86 million in July to 2.24 million in August. In the month that followed, it further climbed to 2.53 million.”¯- Angela Celis
