The government is eyeing to raise P101.02 billion through the privatization of state assets in 2025, data released by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) showed.
According to the Budget of Expenditures and Sources of Financing for 2025, the projected privatization proceeds for next year will be more than double the P42.12 billion programmed for this year.
In 2023, the government only raised P865 million via its privatization efforts.
Based on the Bureau of the Treasury’s (BTr) privatization data from 1990 to 2023, the projected privatization proceeds for next year, if generated, will exceed 2007’s P90.62 billion.
According to the latest cash operations report, the income generated from the government’s privatization efforts in the first half of the year only totaled to P411.52 million.
Privatization proceeds entirely remitted by the Privatization and Management Office significantly rose from the P53.17 million recorded in the same period a year ago.
Bulk of the amount in the first semester came from sales, accounting for P341.75 million.
Lease rental contributed P69.36 million while interest income generated during the period totaled to P0.41 million.
