The Philippines has breached the halfway mark in October in a scorecard that looks at how the country performs versus targets in terms of infection management, vaccine rollout and socioeconomic recovery.
Rosemarie Edillion, National Economic and Development Authority undersecretary, said in a virtual briefing yesterday the Philippines’ overall score in the National Act Plan (NAP) 4 scorecard is 4.83 in October, more than half the perfect score of nine.
The figure showed improvement from the 4.42 score in September.
The NAP 4 scorecard is being compiled by the recovery cluster of the National Task Force Against COVID-19.
Edillon said the government intends to update this every 15th of the month, where the reference period is the preceding month, with updated features for all the indicators.
“In September, we were below the half point mark, and it’s really due to the fact that we had Delta cases in September. In October, we were above the half-point mark, and we are hoping that this trend will actually continue. We are especially heartened by the fact that those indicators that actually were responsible for that increase are on vaccine rollout and infection management,” Edillon said.
In terms of indicators, which each had a perfect score of three, the scores for infection management and vaccine rollout improved to 1.44 from 1.25, and to 1.29 from 0.99, respectively.
Meanwhile, the socioeconomic recovery indicator worsened to 2.1 from 2.18 in September.
“… many flight activities were allowed in September, but because of the surge in cases, we brought that down in October and that was the reason for the decline,” Edillon said.
“Our key observations is that there have been considerable progress in the implementation of the NAP phase four. And the biggest improvement is in terms of the vaccine rollout and then followed by infection management. And third, we do expect another increase actually in November because of the progress in most indicators,” she added.
