Marco Coching’s “In Rhythmic Waves” are portals that create metaphysical realms where every thought and action is balanced by its counterpart. Within this infinite expanse, Coching has successfully created a space where directed energy and the immeasurable meet analytical thinking.
Each artwork is brought to life through his signature flowing lines and luminous hues.
Becoming one with the fractal allows him to transcend the 2D space of his canvas such that the elements expand, retract, and exist. Through this, the artist brings to visual life the internal fight and harmony of Yin and Yang.
“In Rhythmic Waves” can be considered an arrangement of objects that together suggest rhythm and movement determining an abstract reality — a visual mixture of solid forms and lines. It is the process of taking away or removing characteristics from something thus reducing it to a set of essential characteristics. At times, the arrangement of lines playfully transforms into something totally different, characterized by the incorporation of fantastic or mythical elements into realistic fiction, illuminating the mundane by means of the fantastical.
A graduate of Fine Arts from the University of Santo Tomas, Marco “Macoy” Coching is the Grandson of National Artist Francisco V. Coching, the “Dean of Filipino Illustrators”. Macoy took on a different approach in terms of his visual storytelling, and his signature flowing elements are a presentation of the artist’s conceptual take on luminous hues and abstracted forms.
